You’ll also check and organize your climbing gear and supplies to ensure everything is in perfect condition for the journey.
Enjoy a scenic flight to Lhasa, where you’ll witness breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan range. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for a rest day to help with initial altitude adjustment. In the evening, relax and prepare for the acclimatization phase in Tibet.
Over the next three days, visit famous Tibetan landmarks such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street. These excursions provide cultural enrichment while helping you adapt to the higher altitude. Evenings will be spent resting and reviewing the itinerary for the expedition.
Take a picturesque drive to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. The route is filled with stunning landscapes, traditional Tibetan villages, and scenic river valleys. After arriving, you’ll check into your hotel, relax, and prepare for the journey ahead.
Continue your journey to Tingri, a small town situated on the Tibetan Plateau. The drive offers expansive views of the plateau, with glimpses of towering peaks. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and take the rest of the day to relax and acclimatize.
Spend the day adjusting to the higher altitude with light exploration around Tingri. Take short hikes to nearby hills to improve acclimatization while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Rest and recover in the evening for the upcoming challenges.
Drive to the Chinese Base Camp, the official starting point of the expedition. Along the way, marvel at incredible mountain views. After arriving, the team will set up camp while you focus on acclimatization and preparation for the trek to Advance Base Camp.
Use this day to rest and allow your body to adjust to the higher altitude. The team will help you prepare your climbing gear and review plans for the next phase. Light hikes around the base camp may also be undertaken to assist with acclimatization.
Over three days, trek from Chinese Base Camp to Advance Base Camp, gradually ascending to higher altitudes. The journey offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and rugged terrain. The team will set up camps along the way, ensuring proper acclimatization at each step.
This phase involves the ascent to Cho Oyu’s summit, including establishing higher camps, acclimatization rotations, and the final summit push. The climb includes snow slopes, short sections of ice and rock, and the use of fixed ropes for safety. Sherpa support and supplemental oxygen enhance safety and chances of success.
After returning to base camp and packing up, you’ll drive back to Kerung. The journey marks the descent from high altitudes, providing time to relax and reflect on the expedition while enjoying scenic Tibetan landscapes.
Cross the border via the Friendship Bridge and return to Nepal. From Kerung, drive back to Kathmandu, where you’ll check into your hotel and relax after the long journey.
Take the day to rest and recover from the climb while enjoying the comforts of Kathmandu. Use this opportunity for sightseeing, souvenir shopping, or simply relaxing at your hotel.
On the final day, the team will assist you with your departure arrangements. You’ll be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home, leaving with unforgettable memories of your Cho Oyu expedition.
